California Water Allocations

Allocation of water in California is a highly controversial subject. Much of the material generally available on this topic is complicated, designed to be understood by scientists rather than by young children or the average consumer.

To introduce water diversion and allocation issues to the non-scientist, Central Coast Women for Fisheries, Inc.ís Education Committee Chair Barbara Hawkins has prepared a PowerPoint presentation using wild California salmon to demonstrate how water usage directly affects fish populations, as well as notes to assist presenters.

This presentation meets many of the third through fifth-grade science standards set by the California Department of Education.

We invite you to download this presentation, and the accompanying notes, and use it to help us promote water conservation.
